Charleston Jazz Club presents
Third Annual Charleston Jazz Jam
Jazz on the Green, A Celebration of Jazz

Charleston, SC Charleston Jazz Club founder, Dennis Fassuliotis, Steve Simon and Dr. Eddie White, are pleased to announce the Third Annual Charleston Jazz Jam. This event will be held under the trees at Awendaw Green.

The Third Annual Charleston Jazz Jam Jazz on the Green, A Celebration of Jazz will conclude a weekend of jazz that crisscrosses the Charleston County. The weekend event will bring together jazz artists from 2:00 pm to 6:00 pm, on Sunday, November 18, 2012.

The Charleston Jazz Jam has showcased dozens of the best Jazz talents in the area in its last two years in an unscripted, unrehearsed music event. Jazz lovers are guaranteed the return of last years core rhythm section - bassist Jamie Harris, guitarist Joe Wilson, pianist Patience Clements and drummer Anthony Constantine - to anchor the Third Annual Charleston Jazz Jam. But this year, no doubt there will be a Latin flair with Pearl authorized drummer Gino Castillo and the Lowcountrys favorite Brazilian guitarist Duda Lucena. Both will be making their debut appearances at the Third Annual Charleston Jazz Jam at Awendaw Green.

The Third Annual Charleston Jazz Jam at Awendaw Green is a Celebration of Jazz in the Lowcountry, culminating jazz events throughout the area. One of our goals, according to Charleston Jazz Club Founder and event coordinator, Dennis Fassuliotis, is to bring together artists. Moving the Charleston Jazz Jam to a Sunday afternoon, puts us in a unique spot to make this event a true celebration of jazz in the Lowcountry. The week leading up to the event has so much happening in the Charleston area. Headliner, Earl Klugh will be at Kiawah Island, internationally known concert producer Steve Simon plays the preceding Thursday night with Oscar Rivers and the Kings of Jazz at Barsa Lounge, Duda Lucena is playing with Quentin Baxter at the newly redesigned Mez above Sermets Grill on Friday night, Gino Castillo will be kicking off the week at the Mezz on Wednesday night. But this event is the opportunity to bring all these various artists together. We never know who may show up.

A sure bet for a great afternoon of great entertainment, the Third Annual Charleston Jazz Jam promises an outstanding array of talent. Vocalists Starr Acheson and Big George Collier are always a crowd favorite. Another local favorite and veteran Jam attendee, Joe Clark and saxophonist George Kenney can be counted on to appear along with David Archers smooth guitar sound making his first Charleston Jazz Jam debut. And the list just keeps growing.

My favorite story, says Fassuliotis, is the first year, at the end of the night, a young lady showed up and asked me if she could sing. I said I dont know if you can, but if you know the music your welcome to join us. That is how I met Elise Testone. She closed the show and brought the house down!

Three years later, Dennis Fassuliotis is working again with Steve Simon and Eddie White of Awendaw Green to host the Third Annual Charleston Jazz Jam. The magic of the Green with its barn and sound stage, under the trees and fires to warm us on a cool Sunday afternoon promise another great event. Local artist, Tate Nation, has created another original graphic design for this years event and we couldnt be more pleased. His inimitable and recognizable style captures both the whimsy and uniqueness of the Third Annual Charleston Jazz Jam. We are so pleased to have him as part of the team, says Fassuliotis.
